Writer, professor, and podcast host whose work explores the intersections of creativity, consciousness, and cultural identity. He is Chair of the Creative Writing Department at the University of Texas at El Paso and the author of several books, including The Last Philosopher in Texas: Fictions and Superstitions and the award-winning children’s book Gecko Girl. His forthcoming nonfiction book, Nepantla Realism, will be published by the University of New Mexico Press. Chacón is also the creator and host of Words on a Wire, a long-running literary podcast featuring conversations with poets, novelists, and thinkers. His current research focuses on the biology of imagination, the poetics of bilingualism, and the implications of AI-generated literature for Latinx writers. He frequently lectures on literature, mysticism, and the mind, and is the founder of «The Writer and the Brain», a Substack exploring creativity at the crossroads of neuroscience and storytelling.
